Today with the blessing of palms, we start Holy Week. It is the greatest week of the Church year where we are vividly reminded of all that Jesus did and endured for us. It is a week that we should all make special in our lives as we live out the Passion, Death and Resurrection of our Savior. On Holy Thursday we bring the Last Supper to life where the Eucharist began as we have it today. We can spend some time with Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane where He prayed for this cup to pass him by. Good Friday we hear the Passion of Christ and then venerate that instrument of torture – the Cross – that Jesus made the instrument of victory over sin and death. Then on that Holy Saturday we anticipate Jesus rising to new life as we welcome new members into the faith through baptism.
Don’t let the services of this week go unnoticed. Come out and be a part of them remembering what Jesus did for you. Then seek his strength and courage to face your own difficulties and finally rejoice with Alleluias that as Jesus overcame death, we can overcome our troubles.
