Who do you say Jesus is? Today’s Gospel says He is to suffer greatly, be rejected by the elders, be put to death and then rise after three day. Then He says that those who wish to follow Him must do the same: deny oneself and take up his cross. Are we willing to sacrifice for the sake of Jesus? Do we recognize who Jesus is and made Him the focus and center of our lives? Or have we put Him on a shelf and take Him down only when we need something?. If we put Him at the center of our lives, then we would have no problem sacrificing for others or giving Him our time in prayer and devotion. If we haven’t made Him that important in our lives, then we will always find an excuse not to help someone, not to get to Mass, or not to share our faith by living it daily.
