In today’s Gospel, we hear about the Shepherds coming to see Jesus and sharing what has been told to them by the angel. Then we’re told, “Mary kept all these things, reflecting on them in her heart.” Just what was she reflecting on? Some thoughts: the shepherds’ stories, greeting Elizabeth and the baby leapt in her womb, the appearance of the angel Gabriel, Joseph wanting to divorce her, the Magi soon to arrive. It’s a lot to think about!
What do you reflect on as we move into a new year – – losing a few pounds, quitting a bad habit, watching your language, just a few resolutions. Maybe we should take the time to reflect on how Jesus has come into our lives, answered prayers, and showered some blessings and graces. Now we can resolve to be more forgiving, to show more kindness, to be more generous, or to share more time and talent. To put it simply, don’t hinder the Lord’s inspiration. Just let Jesus work through your life. That may be the only resolution we need to make.
Happy New Year!
