A teenager got mad at her parents because they never gave her the things she wanted or needed. So she decided to leave home and go out on her own. She packed her bags. Her parents saw her and said the suit case is theirs, the phone is the daughters but the service will now stop, hope you have a place to stay and plans for meals. She decided to stay home. Do we realize the blessings and graces God has given us throughout our lives? Do we realize those people in our lives who inspire us, protect us and help us? Do we recognize the opportunities presented to us and so many times gifts from others? Do we realize that our lives themselves are a gift from God made in His image and likeness?
This Thursday is Thanksgiving Day. History tells us that it started with the indigious people and the settlers gathering around a table and counting their blessings together. Let us gather around our tables, and especially the Eucharistic Table, and recognize our blessings and offer to share those gifts to others: family, neighbors, friends and acquaintances. We have much to be thankful for.
Come tell Jesus: Thanks. Happy Thanksgiving!
