Pray With Humility. God Responds With What Is Best For Us.

Pray With Humility. God Responds With What Is Best For Us.

Three clergymen were deep in a discussion of the best positions for praying while a telephone repairman worked nearby. “Kneeling is definitely best,” claimed one. “No,” another contended. “I get the best results standing with my arms outstretched to heaven.” “You’re both wrong,” the third argued. “The most effective prayer position is lying on the floor face down.” The telephone repairman could contain himself no longer. “Hey, guys,” he interrupted, “the best praying I ever did was hanging upside down from a telephone pole.”

Everyone has their best position for prayer. But what I think is most important is two things. First is that we do pray. And secondly, our attitude in prayer. It is important that we pray, we talk & listen to God. That is how we create a relationship with the Lord and truly experience his presence in our lives. Our attitude in prayer is just as important. We don’t pray demanding God respond to what we want and when. We pray with humility. We recognize the greatness and compassion of God in our prayer. And remember that God responds with what is best for us, not always exactly what we ask for. Our needs we leave in the hand of God and we will experience his loving mercy.

This Sunday is All Souls Day. Let us offer our prayers for all the faithful departed, especially from our families and parish. May they rest in peace with the Lord in his heavenly kingdom.
