We just celebrated the Ascension of the Lord where we heard Jesus say that he will not leave us alone, but he will send the paraclete, the Holy Spirit to guide us.
Where is that Spirit in your life? You received him at baptism. But you were too young to understand. Then you were confirmed and received the fullness of that same Spirit through the gifts of wisdom, fortitude, piety and more. Where is that Spirit in your life? Have we put him in our closet, only to bring him out when we need him! Have we forgot about him, because we haven’t been praying and experiencing his presence in our life? Or have we felt his presence leading us to share our time and talents with the family, the community and the Church?
The Spirit’s holiness (piety) is in us to bring us together as family. His fortitude gives us the courage to volunteer in helping in the community, school, and Church. His wisdom helps us see and develop our talents to make Jesus’ words come alive in us. Don’t stifle the Holy Spirit working in and through you. Let him shine forth in many ways: going to Mass, volunteering your time, sharing your talents.
Come Holy Spirit!
