Leave it in the Lord’s hands.

Leave it in the Lord’s hands.

In today’s Gospel we hear the story of the miracle of feeding the 5,000 with five loaves of bread and two fish. That’s all that young boy had and he offered it up to feed the multitude. They left it in the Lord’s hands to feed everyone. I think of this miracle a lot when I am preparing my homily for the weekend. What do I have to offer to feed all the people with different feelings that day who are coming to Mass. I may have a thought, an experience or a story to tell based on that day’s scriptures. I share that thought and then I leave it in the Lord’s hands to multiply it for all the people. My idea may remind someone of a whole different experience. My words may cause another story to be remembered and change their way of thinking. Putting it in the Lord’s hands can cause a deeper faith or a greater understanding of what we believe. We all can do that if we just let the Lord direct our actions or speak through us with words of kindness and compassion. The little we sometimes have to offer can affect many people in many different ways. Just pay it forward and see where and how the good deeds will multiply.
