“Follow Me” Jesus said in today’s Gospel. Just like those at the time of Jesus, we all have excuses why we can’t do that now. Being a disciple of Jesus isn’t necessarily to learn about different things, but to live out our beliefs and the teachings of Jesus. Our excuses go from fear, lack of knowledge, have no time, not worthy, too busy, and a host of other excuses. But the reason to be His disciple is our love for Jesus and His love for us. How about being an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, a lector, a music cantor or leader of song, or an altar server? How about sharing some time by volunteering for a project in the parish or the community? How about spending some time with a lonely neighbor?
Go and proclaim the kingdom of God by the lives of service we live.
