Today we celebrate All Saints Day. What is a Saint? How do you become one? The Church has its own process of canonization: looking at the life of the individual, recognizing miracles in their name and other procedures.
But in the eyes of God, what is a saint? I can’t speak for God, but I think today’s Gospel puts us on the right tract to sainthood. Jesus gives us the Beatitudes: blessed are the poor in spirit, the pure in heart, the merciful, sorrowing, honest, the peacemakers, those who suffer for the sake of
righteousness. These attributes and ways of living will get us to heaven and there is our sainthood.
